Croatian’s narrow coast line ranks among the most beautiful ones along the Adriatic Sea. The villages, which seem to be lined up like a chain of beads, slowly gain back their former beauty. At the moment one can still see the visible traces of the civil war during the 1990s years, whether one looks at the dalmatinic shore or further in the hinterland. When touring along the Adriatic Sea it isn’t only the fishing villages and small towns that fascinate the visitors, but also the many small islands off the coast and the close by karts mountain range. It is a country side, one should take time to savor and it earns it, too.
But also the interior of the peninsula Istria has a lot to offer. The Romans have left behind numerous traces here.

On a culinary level the shore region is famous for its seafood and the Brodet (stew from different fish with rice). In the interior one ought to try Manistra od Bobica (beans with corn soup). If you enjoy wines we would like to recommend the Croatian wines.

Some geography:
Croatian is 56,500 square kilometers wide and has 4.4 million inhabitants. About 10% of which belong to minority groups. Due to the civil war after the separation of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in the 1990s there are hundreds of thousands of Croatians living abroad.
The language of the country is Croatian. In the areas where the minorities live the official languages spoken are Serbian, Hungarian or also Italian. 90% of the population is Roman Catholic.
The Croatians celebrate their national holiday on June 25th. On that day in 1991 they announced their independence from Yugoslavia.
