Travel Pharmacy (by Thomas Junker)
What a good first-aid kit looks like depends on the particular route of the motorbike tour. In general one should always take along medicines that have to be taken regularly anyways.

Further one should take along a first-aid kit similar to the one in cars. KTM-dealers, Touratech and most drugstores sell these kits especially prepared for motorbikes. It is equipped in a compact but at the same time also complete way.

It gets more complicated if you are planning to travel abroad for an extended tour. It proved well to talk with a family doctor about ones own individual first-aid kit.

On all of my tours I always carry along the following medicines and equipments: First-aid dressing, sterile pads in two sizes (altogether 10 pieces), a few swabs, a variety of adhesives, 4 bracket adhesives, 3 elastic bandages, 5 to 8 disposable syringes and –drain tubes (3) - depending on the country and destination, a clinical thermometer in a safety cover, tweezers, Meruchrom (disinfectant for open wounds and grazes), a rescue cover, Anticast (fiber-fixed dressing), a scalpel.

Pain killers: Thomapyrin, aspirin (both with Acetylsali-acid) and for tough cases Tramal drops (Tramaldolhydrochlorid).

Additionally: Voltaren (Diclofernac), Tamiflu (Oseltamivir, good flue medicine), Imodium acute (Loperamidhydrochlorid, for diarrhea), a broadband antibiotic for the range of nose infections, bronchitis, head and a further antibiotic (Cirohexal) for the remaining body parts (your doctor should decide which ones are best for you!), eyes drops against inflammations, a broadband antibiotic (Clotrimazol) against fungus infections as well as a remedy for stomach aches and -cramps

For the teeth I take along a replacement filler for broken off teeth and fallen out fillings and crowns.

Depending on the occasion I carry along malaria prophylaxis, suns blocker (protection factor 15), salt tablets and electrolyte, mosquito spray (with active agent DEET).

Important: It depends on the active agent and not on the name of the compound. AND: Let the doctor decide, which medicines work for you. The above list is kind of adapted for my body.
