Stefan Everts hosts fifth edition of EVERTS & FRIENDS CHARITY RACE
Stefan Everts, 10-times MX world champion and boss and mentor of the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team is again hosting his special charity event “Everts & Friends Charity Race” during the break in the GP calendar at the Horensbergdam circuit in Genk on July 21, Belgium’s National Day.
All proceeds go to charity, especially those that support children and youth, a number of which will attend to the event in Genk and will enjoy full attention of Mediclowns in a specially equipped VIP-lounge.

This year “Everts and Friends” includes a great lineup of special events that are both fun and challenging as well as offering visitors a close up and personal encounter with past and present GP stars of international offroad sports.

Undoubtedly the main attraction with be the on-track face-off between Everts and his old rival double world champion Sébastien Tortelli, who is flying in the US-based ‘ChampFactory Motocross School’ especially for the occasion. Their encounter will be reminiscent of their heroic 1998 battle in Megalopolis (Greece) while chasing the MX2 world title.

Red Bull KTM factory riders Max Nagl, Rui Goncalves, Jeffrey Herlings, Shaun Simpson and Steffi Laier will all be present, as will three times winner of the Dakar Rally, KTM’s Cyril Despres. Other top riders include Clement Desalle, Ken De Dycker, Tanel Leok, Manuel Priem, Jeremy Van Horebeek, Joel Roelants, Arnaud Tonus, Johan Boonen, Eddy Seel, Kevin Wouts, Kenny Vandueren, Mike Vanderstraeten and Benoit Pauwels, the well-known ‘one-armed racer’. KTM’s Tony Cairoli has also confirmed he will attend but will decide on the spot if he is going to compete.

Race day will also include the GP Stars (MX1 & MX2) series, the Golden Heroes class, the Ladies Race and the Future Stars (85 cc) plus a range of novelty races. The Golden Heroes will race two ‘classic’ series, twelve minutes plus one lap on old timer bikes and Joel Robert, Sylvain Geboers and Harry Everts – together totaling ten World Championship titles – will also ride a lap of honor on their old bikes. At the opposite end of the age scale, Stefan’s 5-year-old son Liam and his friends will race a few rounds on their PW bikes on a mini circuit in and around the starting zone during the break.

Jimmy Verburgh’s Freestyle ‘FMX4ever’ team  will be on hand to show what happens when motorcycles are airborne and the party atmosphere will be enhanced by the fan party tent, kids’ area, the special Everts and Friends song composed by Praga Khan icon Maurice Engelen and autograph signing sessions with the stars.

The winner of the ‘Future Stars’ class receives the Stefan Everts trophy, a stone-carved replica of ‘The Legend’s’ last air cooled engine, fully equipped with kick starter and spark plug. Exclusive Everts and friends t-shirts are on sale on the www.evertsandfriends.be  website to raise extra funds and Stefan Everts’ 85cc motorcycle is being auctioned for the charity funds.

Tickets at the event are € 15; advanced tickets can be bought www.sherpa.be for € 12 and VIP tickets at www.evertsandfriends.be for € 139.
